Hope Beyond Standard Treatments: Ruby’s Story

Ruby, our beloved dog, was diagnosed with aggressive B-cell lymphoma. The news was devastating, and we faced it with heavy hearts. The veterinary oncologist recommended standard-of-care treatments, which initially showed some promise but ultimately failed. With limited options remaining, I began searching for alternative therapies to give Ruby the best possible chance and extend her time with us.

Through this journey, we developed what we now call the Ruby Protocol—a blend of traditional care and integrative, evidence-informed approaches that gave Ruby an additional, precious year of life filled with love and joy. Knowing this earlier might have led to an even longer outcome, and it’s our hope that sharing this knowledge will help others facing similar challenges.

We were fortunate to have a team of dedicated experts from diverse fields guiding us. Their combined expertise—including oncology, cancer research, functional medicine, holistic veterinary care, and cutting-edge peptide therapies—made the impossible possible. Their collaboration allowed us to craft a protocol tailored specifically to Ruby’s needs. While every situation is unique and one size doesn’t fit all, we hope that sharing the Ruby Protocol provides insights and hope to others navigating this difficult path.

The Turning Point

In my search for complementary cancer therapies, I came across research and testimonials highlighting alternative approaches for pets. The Ruby Protocol was born from this exploration, combining specific off-label treatments, dietary changes, and immune-boosting supplements. Here, I’m sharing the protocol that worked for Ruby in hopes that it might inspire or help others in similar situations.

Updated Ruby Protocol (Lymphoma)

Fenbendazole (Fenben)

Administered at 444 mg per day, calculated for Ruby’s weight of 50 lbs. Given 4 days on and 3 days off for each cycle. Source: Sanare Lab.

Ivermectin

Administered at 12 mg once weekly, tailored for Ruby’s 50-lb weight. Source: IndiaMART, including products like IverSun-12, Iverguard, and IverHeal.

Artemisinin

Administered without food, 1-2 hours before or after meals to ensure efficient absorption. Recommended dosage: 3 times per week.

Dietary Support

A raw, unbleached tripe diet. Remove all processed dog food and treats.

Peptide Therapy

  • Thymosin Alpha-1 RGDR: Boosts immune modulation and T-cell function.
  • PNC-27: Induces apoptosis in cancer cells by targeting the p53-MDM2 complex.
  • 2-DG Peptide: Targets cancer metabolism by interfering with glucose uptake in cancer cells.
  • KPV: Explored for its anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive properties.

Supplementary Protocols

Administered alongside Fenbendazole and Ivermectin for maximum absorption and anticancer properties:

  • Vitamin E: Liquid form (D-Alpha Tocopherol) at 400 IU.
  • Curcumin (Turmeric).
  • CBD Oil: 1100mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract with MCT oil and Hemp Seed Oil, sourced from CBD Dog Health. Dosage: one dropper.
  • Krill Oil.
  • Berberine.
  • Turkey Tail: Double-extracted liquid form.

Dog Supplements

Additional Supplements (Optional)

  • Bee Propolis: Contains flavonoids with antioxidant properties that support the immune system and may help reduce inflammation associated with cancer.
  • Vitamin C (minimum 1000mg): A powerful antioxidant that boosts immune function and may enhance the effectiveness of cancer therapies.
  • NAC (600mg): A precursor to glutathione, a critical antioxidant that protects cells from oxidative damage and may promote detoxification.
  • Proteozyme (Protease) – DCLABS: Enzymes that help break down proteins, potentially reducing inflammation and supporting the body’s ability to eliminate cancer cells.
  • Pycnogenol – Life Extension: A potent antioxidant derived from pine bark that supports vascular health, reduces oxidative stress, and may aid in cancer recovery.
  • Resveratrol: A natural compound found in red grapes and berries, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which may inhibit cancer cell proliferation.
  • APO Caps: Formulated with apoptogens to support apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells. Available through Chewy.
  • Marrow Plus: A herbal formula that supports bone marrow health, particularly beneficial if cancer or its treatment impacts blood cell production.

Ruby Protocol: Dosage, Mechanisms, and Purposes

Item Dosage Mechanism & Purpose
Fenbendazole (Fenben) 444 rng/day. 4 days on. 3 days off (for 50 lbs) – Disrupts microtubule formation in cancer cells, preventing cell division (mitosis).
– Reactivates the tumor suppressor gene p53, inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death).
– Interferes with glucose metabolism, starving cancer cells.
Ivermectin 12 mg once weekly (for 50 lbs) – Modulates the immune system by boosting T-cell response.
– Blocks P-glycoproteins. preventing cancer cells from expelling chemotherapy agents.
– Inhibits the WNT/ß-catenin pathway, reducing cancer stem cell proliferation.
Artemisinin 3 times per week (1-2 hours before or after meals) – Reacts with high iron levels in cancer cells to produce free radicals that selectively damage cancer cell DNA.
– Spares healthy cells with normal iron levels.
– Effective in reducing tumor angiogenesis (blood vessel growth).
Vitamin E 400 IU (liquid form) – Acts as a potent antioxidant to protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
– Enhances absorption of fat-soluble compounds (e.g., Fenbendazole and Ivermectin).
– Su orts immune stem function.
Curcumin (Turmeric) As directed by product – Inhibits nuclear factor kappa B (NF-KB), a key driver of inflammation and cancer cell survival.
– Induces apoptosis in cancer cells by disrupting their signaling pathways.
– Enhances absorption of other compounds when combined with black pepper (piperine).
CBD Oil One dropper daily (Full Spectrum Hemp Extract) – Activates cannabinoid receptors (CBI and CB2) in the endocannabinoid system to reduce inflammation and cancer cell proliferation.
– May enhance the effects of other treatments through its anti-inflammatory properties.
– Promotes relaxation and stress reduction. which can support overall healing.
Krill Oil As directed by product – Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) that reduce systemic inflammation.
– Improves cell membrane fluidity, enhancing the uptake of compounds like Fenbendazole and Ivermectin.
– May inhibit the growth of cancer cells by altering lipid metabolism.
Berberine As directed by product – Inhibits hexokinase II. reducing glucose uptake by cancer cells and starving them of energy.
– Induces mitochondrial dysfunction. leading to apoptosis.
– Reduces systemic inflammation by modulating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathways.
Turkey Tail Double-extracted liquid form, as directed – Contains polysaccharopeptides (PSP and PSK) that enhance the activity of natural killer (NK) cells.
– Stimulates dendritic cells to increase immune surveillance.
– Supports apoptosis and reduces tumor rowth.
Dietary Support Raw, unbleached tripe diet (no processed food) – Provides high-quality, bioavailable nutrients to support immune system function.
– Avoids inflammatory processed ingredients that may promote cancer progression.
– Encourages better gut health and digestion, which is critical for nutrient absorption.
